We believe that the development of a young Life Science company, which may take several years, from birth to maturity, depends first and foremost on the experience and skills of its entrepreneurial, managerial and scientific team. The ability of the team to operate in a highly volatile environment and to successfully face challenges is therefore one of the most important factors which we will examine for each investment.
The quality of the Science and the significance of the discovery which lays in the foundation of the company is the second factor we are looking at. Innovative, peer-reviewed, quantum leap technologies which promote a major shift in their respective fields have good chances to develop into products that will reach the market before competition develops. Within this context, we believe that the combination of top quality science with the fast development of Information Technologies provide to Biopharma companies the ability to dramatically reduce costs and timing of new drug, vaccines and diagnostics development.
The third parameter that we address, deals with the company’s business model. The business model shall be based on a solid understanding of the market’s needs on one hand and of the company's own competitive edge on the other. When well planned, the company shall be able to identify a clear market need and to develop solutions and products leveraging itself with external, less dilutive financial resources.
The companies included in our portfolio respond to these three parameters. The achievements of four out of six of them to reach market awareness and recognition, reinforce the validity of our claims and set the base for seeking additional opportunities that respond to these parameters in the future. |
